Description:
Here is a stunning quality antique pair of rare English Victorian oak library armchairs, circa 1850, newly upholstered in top quality brown leather and in excellent original condition. The chairs are designed with an elegant curved scroll bar back, with a bank of shaped vertical supports below, all of which is secured by the shaped arms. The arms are also raised on elegant turned, fluted baluster supports, which extend downwards to form the front legs. The chair boasts a stunning quality wide seat, which has been newly upholstered in top quality full rain brown leather, finished with deep buttoning, and brass studs to the perimeter; the seat is extremely comfortable to sit on. The seats incorporate new springs and are upholstered with the traditional horsehair filling and a hessian underside. The chair stands on its original baluster legs to the front and splayed legs to the rear. Two turned crinoline stretchers connecting the rear legs to a curved central stretcher unite the legs. The legs feature solid brass & mug castors (the castors are in excellent condition). The chairs are very comfortable to sit on, have a fantastic golden colour and are in excellent overall condition.
The chairs feature a rich golden oak colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning they have received.
These chairs would look superb in a variety of rooms in the home, especially the office or library as they are so comfortable. This item would certainly grace any home. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
The chairs are in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frames, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chair frames have been cleaned and French polished in our workshop; therefore they boast a stunning colour. The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality full grain brown leather, finished with buttoning, and brass studs to the perimeter. The seats incorporate new springs and are upholstered with the traditional horsehair filling and a hessian underside. The chairs stand on their original legs and feature solid brass & mug castors (the castors are also in excellent condition). The chairs are well constructed, solid in joint and ready to use.
