Description:
Here is a superb quality late 20th Century reproduction of a Tudor style dark brown solid carved super king (6ft wide) full tester (four poster) bed, showing exceptional craftsmanship, in good condition. This is a superb quality bed finished in a dark brown oak colour, having been handmade from a combination of predominantly solid oak & other hardwoods. The bed is in the style of the English Tudor period, which dates from 1500 to 1530. This bed shows exceptional craftsmanship. All panels are detachable for ease of transport, easy access into the home and assembly. This bed fits a standard UK super king mattress (6ft” wide x 6ft 6” long).

The headboard can be dismantled into panels (if necessary) to allow easy access up narrow staircases or through doorways. The headboard is constructed of several floral carved panels, predominantly sunflowers; interspersed with arabesque rails, acanthus leaf and punch work sections, along with lozenge panels. At the top are three carved panels depicting sun flower heads on a sunken matted ground, with three larger sunflower carved panels in the middle, flanked by lozenge panels and four smaller lozenge carved panels below, interspersed with arabesque rails.

The bed displays a recessed panel roof, with a large central carved floral sunflower panel, flanked by moulded rails, finished with a moulded external canopy.

The sections, including the small stiles are interspersed by further formal strap work arabesque rails defined by a sunken matted ground. The external stiles incorporate delicate trailing grapevine carvings. Two floral carved fluted posts support the canopy at the front, above the bed.

The footboard boasts similar carved lozenge carved panels to the headboard, enriched with punch work flanked by formal strapwork arabesque vertical styles defined by a sunken matted ground. The two larger horizontal rails feature a moulded finish. The footboard corner blocks feature profuse grape vine floral carvings. The side rails features carved raised lozenge panels interspersed by vertical arabesque rails.

This bed is accentuated with style, romance and tradition. The impression created by this bed will without doubt be a memorable one as they are genuinely unique and recreate the ultimate in luxury of a bygone age.

This bed is not to be confused with other four-poster beds of lesser quality in the market place today. This bed is hand made; with hand carved panels, unlike other machine carved beds. The design, build quality and superstructure (thickness of panels) are of superior and exceptional quality. It is an extremely heavy bed!

Condition Report:
This bed is in good condition. It is an extremely well constructed, heavy, solid and very stable bed. There are no veneers on this bed, either; it is made of completely solid oak and other hardwoods. There is also no damage to the bed. The bed boasts exquisite carvings, un-paralleled in terms of detail, intricacy and quality. The polish is also in excellent condition. This bed is of superior quality and construction, compared to other reproduction beds in the market place today. It is solid in joint and ready to use.
