Description:
Here is an exhibition quality antique English Victorian burr walnut and satinwood two-door wardrobe, with stunning mirror matched veneers, circa 1880, in excellent original condition. The top section supports a protruding moulded cornice, above twin, panelled doors, which boasts superb mirror matched veneers. The doors also feature the original turned knobs, while the right hand door retains its original working latch, lock and key. Either side of the door, the wardrobe frame exhibits a moulded frame. Below, the wardrobe rests on an exquisite bead moulded plinth. Internally, the wardrobe boasts a satinwood interior incorporating three pullout trays, above an open compartment, with four satinwood drawers below. The drawers and pullout trays both boast satinwood lining and hand dovetail construction. The drawers also boast the original blue paper lining, as well as the original brass handles and the bottom two drawers incorporate original working locks, with working key. To the right-hand side of the interior, there is a generous hanging space, including a single hanging rack and a total of 6 hooks. The wardrobe is raised on its original bead moulded plinth. This item also features the original backboards. The cornice and plinth can be removed to allow easier access into the bedroom.
This item has a rich brown burr walnut colour. It has a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
