Description:
This is a fine quality pair of English antique William IV mahogany armchairs, having newly upholstered seats, circa 1830, in good condition. The chairs are constructed from solid mahogany and feature a gadroon carved crest below a splayed bar back, incorporating floral carved ears, with a floral carved horizontal central splat, secured by down swept scroll arms. The drops in seats have been newly upholstered in top quality luxurious embroidered fleur-de-lis patterned red dralon upholstery. If you do not like the colour/style of the upholstery, we can re-cover the seats in a fabric of your choice. The undersides of the seats are finished with traditional hessian backing. The seats are firm and you do sink into them, but at the same time, they are extremely comfortable to sit on. The chairs stand on fine tulip carved front legs, with sabre legs to the rear.
The chairs resonate a rich brown mahogany colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a lovely colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
The chairs would look superb in the hallway, office or library. They would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So don’t miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
Condition Report:
These chairs are in good condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, chair frame and legs, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The chairs have been wax polished in our workshop. The drop in seats has been newly upholstered in top quality luxurious embroidered fleur-de-lis patterned red dralon upholstery. The seats have also been re-webbed. The undersides of the seats have been finished with traditional hessian backing. The seats are firm and you do sink into them, but at the same time, they are extremely comfortable to sit on. Therefore, the seats are in excellent clean condition. The chair frames retain their original polish and patination, which is why they boast a stunning rich brown colour. The chairs sit firm on the ground and do not wobble. They are well built and heavy; which is a sign of quality; they are solid in joint and ready to use.
