Description:
Here is a fine quality, primitive antique English 17th century Charles II oak side table, circa 1680, in good condition. This primitive table and would have been used in a grand country house dwelling. The table boasts a lovely moulded three-plank top. Below, there is a single working full-length drawer, which features very old replacement (most likely mid Georgian) brass handles on ornate foliate escutcheons, as well as a matching faux keyhole escutcheon. The drawer is oak lined and constructed with primitive hand dovetail joints. Below the drawer is a raised bobbin turned stretcher. The table has been handmade using the joined peg construction method; this is evident around the body of the table. The table stands on its original four stunning elegant bobbin turned legs, which are united by bobbin stretchers to the sides and rear (for added support), and terminate on simple bobbin feet. The table boasts a superb rich oak colour and is in good condition.
This item features a dark oxblood oak colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the dining room, living room or the hallway. The desk would certainly grace any home or office and is a great investment, as it is extremely functional. So don’t miss out on your chance to own a lovely piece of furniture.
